A sense of whimsical escapism sets the tone for the spring/summer 2022 collection from 120% Lino, which will make an appearance on the runway at Fashion Week El Paseo on March 21 during “The Buzz on El Paseo,” a show highlighting retailers from this very street. But you need not wait until the styles parade down the 100-foot catwalk to see these popsicle-hued looks up close. Just pop into the store, centrally located on the lower level of The Gardens on El Paseo near the center lawn. “This season’s styles are a collection of eye-catching prints that incorporate fresh colors such as lemon, lagoon blue, and flamingo pink that are accented with unique embroidery and embellishments,” says 120% Lino director of retail Marisa Pepper-Lang. “We have head-to-toe options for both men and women that will carry you year-round in the desert.”
The luxury brand — founded in 1983 by an Italian stylist living in London — specializes in fine linen apparel. And is there any other material more suited to the desert/resort environment of Greater Palm Springs? The 15th anniversary of Fashion Week El Paseo will undoubtedly be the place to see and be seen this month. As we whittle down our wardrobe options, we asked Pepper-Lang to share a few suggestions to consider from the spring/summer 2022 collection.
From Pool to Party
The Dark Room midi dress features an organic watercolor-like print that blends the charm of a backyard tie-dye project with the sophistication of a shirtdress. If you prefer a little sun on your shoulders, this signature strapless double-tiered dress in Blue Diva is a good go-to and a great base for fun accessories. “These looks transition effortlessly from day to night, poolside to the season’s best party,” Pepper-Lang says.
Setting the Tone
Way back in 1983, a linen jacket inspired it all, as 120% Lino founder Alberto Peretto set out to make his own version of the wardrobe staple evoking an outfit from the Werner Herzog film Fitzcarraldo. This soft-faded two-button jacket in Sky Soft, an oceanic shade of blue, pairs with 120% Lino’s classic flat-front pant for an elevated-casual look that will stand out from the crowd. For something on the rosier side, reach for the Palm Print button-down shirt. Speaking about the full spring/summer 2022 collection, Pepper-Lang reports: “It perfectly accentuates the relaxed-yet-sophisticated desert lifestyle.”
Artful Accessories
Of course, not everything in the store is made entirely of linen. These handmade handbags from Rosantica — the oversize Scalea and fringed Cefalu models shown here — double as fine art. “They are exclusive to our stores,” Pepper-Lang says. “They are designed and created in Italy. All made with natural materials, and they incorporated our linen into many of the styles.”
