Tommy Bahama Home sells 32 furnishing collections — including one named “Palm Desert,” inspired by the El Paseo location — that have a diverse range of styles from classic to contemporary. Whereas Tommy Bahama apparel tends to skew tropical, the design focus at Tommy Bahama Home centers around resort living rather than island living, says Robert Stamper, senior vice president of marketing of parent company Lexington Home Brands. Knowledgeable store attendants/interior designers are standing by to assist guests in curating their very own resort at home with original designs that are suitable for each room.
How does the brand help guests navigate their style choices?
We have a team of interior design professionals in the store available to assist our guests on any project — from refreshing a room to an entire home remodel. Our in-store design services are always complimentary, and we do home calls as well. Given the diversity of the line, we have the ability to accommodate every possible styling preference.
How do the Tommy Bahama Outdoor Living collections draw inspiration from the interior collections?
As a result of the pandemic, home has never been more important as a priority for our guests, and outdoor living has been the single fastest-growing product category. Our clients are looking for an elegant transition from indoor to outdoor living spaces, with design continuity that is seamless. Outdoor spaces have literally become a natural extension of their indoor décor. We design Tommy Bahama Outdoor Living collections to work effortlessly with the indoor designs but use weather-resistant materials and performance fabrics to manage the elements.
What advice do you have for people who want to redecorate but don’t know where to start?
One of the most effective ways to start a project is to collect magazine tear sheets and save digital images of styles, colors, and rooms that catch your eye. It certainly helps to have a floor plan of the space you’re looking to address. If you don’t have a floor plan, our design team can create one for you. What are some of your most popular items for both Tommy Bahama Home and Outdoor Living?
Our most popular indoor collection is “Palm Desert,” aptly named after our store location. It features a lighter finish, soft contemporary styling, and touches of midcentury design. Custom upholstery in the collection offers vibrant colors and exceptional seating comfort, including sectionals. Our most popular outdoor collection is “La Jolla,” which features natural, sustainably sourced teak with a protective coating. The authenticity of the designs and materials make it a natural fit for the desert.
Are there any new collections coming soon?
Our newest indoor collection, just arriving now, is called “Sunset Key.” Our newest outdoor collection, also arriving now, is called “Kilimanjaro.” They are both in the showroom now.
